“Any Publix you’ll usually find somebody with a disability working there. It’s not a quota. It’s part of the Publix culture. It’s what they want to do to represent our entire community. Everybody has the ability. Let’s focus on their ability.”

LISTEN Part II (11:47) Sister Ann Kendrick of the Hope CommUnity Center

“We moved into Lake Jewell Estates. We had to learn from the people, relationship with the people. Figure out what they want to do and help that happen…. We’re four white sisters that just arrived in town, we’re twenty something years old, we don’t know nothing from nothing. And Henry Louis Kell who lived on the backstreet from us who couldn’t figure out who these white ladies were, stood up and he said, ‘Four white sisters and a black brother.’ The relationship changed.”

LISTEN Part III (11:25) Ellie Garcia of the Hope CommUnity Center

“Sister Ann has empowered me to continue fighting. I am going to continue to empower my community and not be afraid of hiding myself.”

LISTEN Part IV (12:40) Reverend Bryan Fulwider of Building Us

“I hope that we can find new ground for the religious conversation and the entire intradiversity conversation of what it means to be part of this great human family.”
