John H. (Jack) Porter

John H. (Jack) Porter was born here in Orlando in 1899.  He discusses the Curry Ford Polo Grounds; Harper’s Race Track; wolves; deer; working the citrus groves; Slemon’s store; bird hunting; fishing; rattlesnakes.

This interview was conducted on March 2, 1978 for the Friends of the Orlando Public Library’s Oral History Committee.  We are grateful for the Orange County Regional History Center‘s making this recording available for Orlando Memory.
