Glenn Beck – American Revival

The American Revival is all about getting in touch with the ideals and principals that the Founding Fathers used as the building blocks of this country – Faith, Hope and Charity. Glenn Beck believes that if we reconnect with these three essential values and immerse ourselves in the spirit of Faith, Hope and Charity, we can revive this country and restart he heart of America. The American Revival Tour featured Glenn Beck, Judge Andrew P. Napolitano, David Buckner, and David Barton. Glenn’s producer Stu Burgueiere and his best friend Pat Gray were also part of the day’s events. Orlando’s own Bud Hedinger was at the event greeting all who visited the WFLA 540 table!  The Glenn Beck American Revival was held at UCF Arena 27 March 2010.

DAVID BUCKNER

Napolitano, a former New Jersey Superior Court Judge and now a respected analyst on political strategy and Constitutional law.  Andrew will address Charity, and how the preservation and strengthening of the Constitution is inextricably linked to the health and survival of our nation, as well as our ability to be charitable.”

DAVID BARTON
“David Barton, founder of WallBuilders, an organization dedicated to presenting America’s forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on our moral, religious, and constitutional heritage.  David will speak to the importance of Faith, and America’s proud history as a religious nation.”

This is  Glenn’s key-note speech at the end of the American Revival seminar. To give some background, earlier in the day a woman fell down the stairs in the upper deck at the back of the arena and needed medical attention. The people in sections 202 and 203 started shouting for a doctor. When Glenn realized what was happening, he called for the house lights and asked that all say a silent prayer. In the silence, while the EMTs arrived you could hear the faint sound of Glenn humming Amazing Grace. The people at the revival started humming it with him and many began singing as well. It was a powerful moment. Since this took place just before we were scheduled to break for lunch, Glenn decided to stop once the EMTs had taken the lady out. At the beginning of the afternoon session, the arena went black with a single light on the floor at the side entrance near the back of the arena.

Over 7500 people in probably 6000 vehicles made their way to the UCF Arena on Saturday morning 27 March 2010. Safety precautions were evident as all were searched and scanned before entering the arena. Once inside the arena all were greeted with the huge banner hanging from the second floor.

We were sitting directly in the center of the arena in the front row up on the 2nd floor so our view was unobscured but we were far from the stage. There were two huge video screens – one on each side of the stage. The stage which was unadorned except for a podium and Glenn’s two chalkboards on which his audience members receive nightly education on a variety of subjects including economics, world history, USA history, faith, politics and personal responsibility. The chalkboards have come to represent the knowledge.

Glenn explained that God was the foundation upon which our republic was created but that is turned upside down now because of the uncontrollable growth of government.

The chalkboards have come to represent the knowledge we did not know we’d missed and they are applauded wherever they appear.

Glenn’s producer and cohort, Stu – Steven Burguiere – and his best friend and co-worker Pat Gray were along for the tour taking texting questions from the folks in attendance. One question was read from a person who was obviously not a fan of Glenn’s but who apparently bought a ticket to experience the tour. As Glenn said from stage, “God Bless Capitalism.”

Glenn invited his personal photographer to the stage as he was talking about dropping titles that divide us and concentrating on principals and values. His photographer is a die-hard liberal but they respect each other.

Columbia University adjunct professor and economist David Buckner spoke on Hope, the second topic of the three discussed at the conference (Faith, Hope, Charity). He explained that there are only three ways to get out of the financial crisis: Raise taxes, Cut spending, or Inflation. He had the audience vote on if they were Optimistic, Pessimistic or Unsure about whether our nation will survive the crushing deficits.

Glenn’s best friend Pat Gray and his producer Stu Burguiere joined him on stage with questions from the audience.

Judge Andrew P. Napolitano presented a talk on the topic of Charity, explaining that when the government takes your money and gives it to others, it is not charity. He discussed the Constitution and what happened to states’ rights.

Judge Napolitano answers a question about the unconstitutionality of three aspects of the recently passed Health Care Bill. Joining them on the stage with the questions from the audience were Stu Burguiere and Pat Gray.

Glenn was reminding us that the Founders of the Constitution believed that we the people have “unalienable rights endowed by our Creator.” “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

Glenn was relating a time in his life when he had nothing; when he had turned to alcohol and was on his knees begging God to help him change his life. He was kneeling on the green shag carpet in a $600 per month apartment on Christmas Eve. He could barely pay the rent and thought there was no way out. He explained that had he not been allowed “to fail,” he would have never known what it was like at the bottom and would never have been able to fight his way back. He believes that giving people “trophies for participation” does not make them understand that there are winners and losers and if you want to be a winner you need to do the hard work necessary.

David Buckner was answering a question asked about how we should prepare for the possible bankruptcy of the United States economy caused by massive spending, monetizing the debt, etc. Since there are several possible outcomes – all of which are very bad, Buckner replied with an analogy.  This is basically what he said. If you prepare for rain by buying an umbrella and it snows, you haven’t prepared. If you prepare for snow and you get a hurricane, you are not prepared. He said we must all be informed on all the possible economic ramifications of our massive debt and entitlement programs so we can in some small way prepare ourselves for any outcome.

Stu Burgueiere and Pat Gray were off to the right side of the stage posing the questions.  David Barton was asked a question about the true history of our Founding Fathers and the founding of our nation based on Judeo-Christian beliefs. In his response he gave as an example the lies about George Washington and the manner of his death. Many have said that George Washington was not faithful to his wife and actually died because of pneumonia acquired because he exited a lady’s home through a window into the snow to evade the woman’s husband as he arrived through the front door.  David Barton researched George Washington’s death and determined that he died from the treatment of Strep Throat. His physicians had him drink liquid mercury (considered a cure at that time) and bled him three times, removing 16 oz, 32 oz, and 48 oz of his blood over a short period of time.- also considered a cure for a variety of illnesses at the time.

Judge Napolitano was answering a question as to the Constitutional issues on which he thought the Supreme Court might strike down the Health Care Bill. He enumerated three but felt it could take two years for the case to get to the Supreme Court while new taxes were going to be imposed beginning this year.
