On July 4, 2014, the Calendar section of the Orlando Sentinel featured the opening of the new Diagon Alley at Universal Studios scheduled for Tuesday, July 8, 2014. The feature article compares the Wizarding World of Harry Potter that opened in June 2010 with the the new Diagon Alley. Included in the center fold is a two page map of the area noting points of interest.
The soft opening of the park came about week after a major two day event for press, travel writers and bloggers. Harry Potter actors and actresses were on hand for the event.
Prior to the opening of Diagon Alley, it was the topic of the front cover of the June 30-July 13, 2014 Universal News– a Universal Orlando team member communications publication.
It was also featured on the cover of the July 14 – 28, 2014 edition.
