Donald S. Evans

Donald Samuel Perry Evan’s parents came here in 1889.  He ran a local downtown pharmacy for many years.  At the time of this interview he was a retired pharmacist and a former chairman of the county board of commissioners.

This interview was conducted by Mrs. Buell Duncan, Jr. (Patricia J. Duncan) for the Friends of the Orlando Public Library’s Oral History Committee on August 8, 1975.  We are grateful for the Orange County Regional History Center‘s making this recording available for Orlando Memory.

Donald S. Evans: Orlando Sentinel's Man of the Week

Retired pharmacist, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, as well as general man about town, Don Evans was Orlando Sentinel's Man of the Week in February 1963.

Among the other hats that Don Evans wore  in February 1963 was that of president of the Central Florida Fair.  This is one of several newspaper articles to be found in the Vertical File collection of local biographies at the Orlando Public Library.
