Clubs pp. 138-139
According to the 1962 Colonial High School yearbook (pages 138 and 139) many of the local Orlando clubs sponsored high school clubs at Colonial. “The clubs present to youth the chance to be temporarily on their own and to help shape an organization. The clubs are ably guided by conscientious and serious sponsors who aid the clubs with wise and mature counselling.” Club signs shown at the entrance to the school property include Kiwanis International, National Association of Real Estate Boards, Orlando Board of Realtors, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary International, U. S. Naval Reserve Training Center, Orlando Jaycees, 8th Engineering Company USMCR, Lions Club, Holden Heights, Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, College Park Chamber of Commerce. In the background you can see a Sinclair service station.

This two page spread marked the beginning of the advertisement section of the 1962 Colonial High School yearbook. Featured on the page are (L to R) Steve Williams, Patti Wells, Granville Salvay, Nina Entrekin, Eva Heath, Barbara Manes, Judy Harland , Vickie Caraway, Sherry Innanen, Jim Geyer, and Phil Rose. The little poodle is Jean Pierre Entrekin. The group of students are posing with many of the products of the businesses featured in the advertisement section. Visible is Peck’s A & W Root Beer, boat from Round Marine, Coca Cola, motor oil representing the service stations advertised, milk and golf clubs. The fellow getting his hair trimmed is probably a nod given to Teddy’s barbershop.

Advertisements on page 199 in the Colonial High School yearbook include Belks Department Store which was located in the Colonial Plaza Shopping Center at the corner of Bumby and Colonial; Florida National Bank, and country radio WHOO – the Mighty 990!

Advertisements on page 200 include images of the Orlando Federal Savings and Loan Association at the corner of Magnolia Avenue at Livingston at 2301 E. Colonial Drive and an artist’s rendering of the “New” Colonial Branch Building at Colonial at Bumby across from the Colonial Plaza Shopping Center. Another photo gives a glimpse of the Dairy Queen at 4930 Lake Underhill Drive, and who can live in Orlando for any length of time and not be familiar with the Merita bread wrapper or the wonderful smell that comes from the bakery.
