Anna Mae Patz coached the Dr. Phillips High School Math Team to win first place in Orange County, coached them to state, and to winning nationals. Mrs. Patz led the team from 1990s-2003 and has served as a mathematics educator in Orange County Public Schools for 38 years.
Kathi Brooks Myers, Dr. Phillips High School valedictorian, went on to University of Central Florida to pursue a degree in teaching, and later worked as an intern at Dr. Phillips High School with Anna Mae Patz.
Mrs. Patz reflects on the excellent quality of education in Orange County, the school changes which benefit our society, and the outstanding opportunities for technological education and careers in Orlando in this excerpt from her oral history interview on October 31, 2011.

Coleman Technologies paid for 50 students from Dr. Phillips High School to travel to the math competitions. Mrs. Patz’s two older sons, Ben and Mark Patz, work together at the Orlando company, Coleman Technologies founded by Jeff Coleman. Coleman Technologies was named the #1 fastest growing company in Central Florida in 2000 and recently merged with Presidio. Ben Patz, CEO of Coleman Technologies, was awarded Florida’s Entrepreneur of the Year for technology services in 2002 and the UCF College of Engineering & Computer Science 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award.
