The facade of the original Jones High School building built in 1921 can be seen in the far right of the photo. In 1952 the building was converted to Callahan Elementary School, named after Dr. J.B. Callahan. The building was redesigned, to create the Callahan Neighborhood Center in 1987. The City of Orlando kept the original building colonial style architecture and arched front facade seen in the below photo.The veiled Historic State Marker in front of the Dr. J.B. Mr. Bryant grew up in the Historic Callahan Neighborhood and graduated from Callahan Elementary School before pursing his professional education at Florida A & M University, University of Wisconsin, and Georgia Tech Graduate School of Architecture. Harry Bryant serves in a leadership role on the Board of the Callahan Neighborhood Association working to preserve the community heritage in the footsteps of his mother, Alma A. Bryant, who was one of the original Directors of the Callahan Neighborhood Association.State of Florida Historic Marker honoring the educational legacy of the original Jones High School on the front and the Callahan Elementary School on the back.
