Here is one small story from life in Christmas, Florida.
Life in the boonies was filled with lots of snakes. I saw quite a few poisonous snakes. The coral snake was seen every year around springtime.
We had a cat that was very adept at catching snakes and one time this cat caught a coral snake and killed it. Then our dog who was not very brave and a most bumbling pooch took the snake away from the cat and slung the dead creature around in circles barking every so often as if to show us his prowess in protecting the family.
The entire family ran to see what the commotion was all about but I saw the whole thing from beginning to end. The cat sat by with a smug look on her face. She knew who really caught the snake and so did I. The dog had no idea that I saw his sneaky behavior. I never ratted on the dog and I gave both pets a treat.
P.S. the dog’s name was Mac and I cannot remember the cat’s name.
