Herndon Branch Library celebrated it’s 20th Anniversary on November 3, 2018. The celebration included a full day of events that ranged from music, Herndon trivia, performances, arts and crafts, prize giveaways, a trip down memory lane, cake and more! VIEW Anniversary Schedule.
The Herndon Branch originally opened its doors to the public on November 23, 1998. It is a leased facility in the Colonial Promenade shopping center on East Colonial Drive. Previous occupants in the building were Barnes and Noble book store and T.J. Maxx. Read more about the first year of the Herndon Branch.

In 2014, the Orlando Sentinel launched a Twitter campaign with the hashtag #orlandoing. Herndon circulation clerk, Jemimah Salim and Customer Service Lead (left), Betsy Nieves (right), celebrated with a display featuring books of the City Beautiful. Jemimah started with the library in the Community Relations department in 1996 and worked at Herndon until her passing in 2019. Betsy Nieves started as a Shelving Clerk at the East Orange Branch in 1995 and was with the Herndon Branch until her retirement in 2020.

The Herndon Library was located near the heart of downtown at 4324 East Colonial Drive, Orlando, 32803 and closed permanently on June 1, 2020.
