The “Teen Time Capsule” project documents and contributes content to Orlando Memory that describes teen volunteer service in the metro Orlando area. The primary objective of this initiative is to increase teen participation in Orlando Memory. Library teen volunteers were invited to create topic pages on Orlando Memory that describe their volunteer experiences with the Library and with other organizations across Central Florida.
These topic pages include audio interviews, photos, and written content. Teens created their own pages, added content, and interviewed each other. The secondary objective of this project is to introduce young adults to the concepts, practice, and importance of preserving local history. Teen volunteers will learn how to contribute their stories and experiences to the collection. Library staff coordinate this project and provide assistance with these activities.
ABOVE: Saturday, May 29, 2012: Hannah and Dani, both Library teen volunteers, were interviewed for the Teen Time Capsule 2012 project.
This is an ongoing initiative. New volunteers will be be invited to participate and to share their experiences. Those who have already created pages are encouraged to update and maintain their pages.
