This recording was made in June of 1975 by Hatabel Hyer for her Pioneer Party Line. It begins as a one-sided telephone conversation with the single remaining member of the Delaney family, who was also related to the Anderson family, for whom the streets in Orlando are named.
One of the topics is a letter the Delaney family received back in 1875 from a relative in Covington, Georgia, which is where Hatabel Hyer’s family came. The letter is read by Eileen Willis of the Orlando Public Library.
We are grateful for the Orange County Regional History Center’s making this recording available for Orlando Memory.
